Face to Face Support

Some young people like to speak to a therapist or well-being practitioner in person when they would like some support. Due to the Coronavirus each service may be working in a slightly different way.

STOKE-ON-TRENT

Stay Well

Stay well is the new service provider for Stoke on Trent which includes, Changes YP, Younger Mind and the Dove Service to help young people to stay well during difficult times.  These services can now be accessed digitally with options over the telephone, via Zoom as well as online sessions.

Younger Mind

Younger Mind is part of the Stay Well service in Stoke- On- Trent. Younger mind offers 1-2-1 therapy via the telephone, zoom video meetings and online chats for young people aged between 9 and 18 years old. This is with a trained and experienced therapist who will listen and help you explore things, in a non-judgemental way. They will also look at coping strategies if this is something that you would like.

Dove Service

The Dove Service is a part of Stay Well in Stoke on Trent. Dove are continuing to offer 1-2-1 support via the telephone for children and young people. This is for young people who have experienced a bereavement, loss or life changing illness. Dove counsellors will work with your grief and any wider issues around that, which may be impacting your mental health.

To access the service please call 01782 418518 or email staywell.here4u@changes.org.uk and a member of the team will be in touch with you as soon as they can.

Savana

Savana offer a service for young people in Stoke on Trent from the age of 4, who have experienced sexual violence or abuse. Your counsellor will offer a non- judgemental space to talk about anything you need too. Your counsellor will review the sessions regularly to see if you are getting what you want from counselling. Savana are currently supporting clients via the telephone.

NORTH STAFFORDSHIRE & LEEK

Action for Children

Action for Children work with young people in Newcastle Under Lyme, Staffordshire Moorlands, Stafford, Cannock, South Staffordshire, Tamworth, Lichfield and East Staffordshire. They provide a range of different interventions to help young people with how they are feeling. They offer 6 sessions of psychological interventions and telephone support. This support is available for young people aged between 5 years and 18 years old. Support is also available for young people up to the age of 24 when there is an educational health care plan in place.

Action for children also offer group work, digital interventions from ages 9-18 years old and support for positive parenting. All services are currently working online.

Visyon

Visyon are a mental health charity who offer a safe space to talk and offer support to families. Visyon support young people aged from 4 to 18 years old in Cheshire and Staffordshire Moorlands. They are currently offering telephone support for young people.

Visyon offer: Counselling, mentoring, wellbeing groups and family support. If you would like some support from Visyon please call: 01260 290 000.

Visyon also offer an open access line for young people aged 13+ and parents, to talk to professional about how they are feeling.

To access this service your GP will need to make a referral to CAMHS. You can self refer to YESS but you may be classed as a private client, and may need to pay.

Burton & District Mind

Our Face2Face project supports 16 to 18 year olds with one to one counselling.

We provide one to one counselling support within our base at 67 Branston Road and remotely at Burton and South Derbyshire College, Paget High School, De ferrers High school and Paulet High School and are hoping to expand this further to other local schools next year.
